Exclusive rights granted for a new invention, preventing others from making, using, or selling it without permission. Protected under the Patents Act, 1970 in India. Valid for 20 years from filing. The invention must be novel, non-obvious, and useful.

Real Indian Example

You invent a new water purification method. After getting a patent, no one in India can use your method commercially without your license for 20 years. You can license it to companies for royalty income.
